It does happen from time to time because quail love to waist feed as a professional sport. We recommend taking a small paint brush to brush out any excess feed that may fall into the feed saver so you can gather it into your hand and place it back into the feed trough. For those that have chickens roaming around where your quail cages are placed, if they have access to the ground below your cages, this item is completely unnecessary as the chickens will eat any feed that may fall. This item is more so intended for a concrete floor type of environment where no other ground birds are present to assist in saving any fallen feed.
